- Copenhagen stunned Man Utd by 4-3 on Wednesday in the Champions League
- The Danish team’s comeback began with a Rashford red card that was shown shortly before the halftime break
- Erik ten Hag is disappointed by the decision of Rashford’s dismissal
Elias Jelert of Copenhagen, the defender who received the same challenge that saw Marcus Rashford dismissed during Manchester United’s defeat by 4-3 on Wednesday has expressed his opinion on the ruling.
Rashford’s high tackle on Jelert in the opening half saw United cruising to a 2-0 lead. After a VAR review, the referee decided to show the United winger the straight red.
After the match Erik ten Hag was furious, saying that the decision was “harsh”. This was just one example of the many decisions made against him during the match.
Jelert admitted that Rashford did not mean any harm when he challenged, but argued the decision to send Rashford off was correct.
He told bold, “I thought it was high but there was no free kick at all.”
I don’t believe he was after my. His foot was quite high. He had tried to shield it, but failed. It felt like it had landed hard.
It was sufficient for a yellow card.

What is the number of games Marcus Rashford will miss following his red card
UEFA has a more flexible policy on the use of red cards than Premier League, and the suspensions only become final after a meeting with the competition’s disciplinary committee.
Standard rule states that any red cards will result in a minimum of a match ban. However, if the offense is serious, then the Commission can extend this suspension.
Rashford is certain to miss United’s match against Galatasaray, on November 29. He could miss the game with Bayern Munich in December 12, if his suspension was longer.
It is a huge blow to United who are bottom in Group A with four matches played. Ten Hag’s team is only one point back of both Galatasaray (and Copenhagen) heading into the last two matches.
If United were to drop out of the Europa League, Rashford could be banned from the Europa League if he received a suspension sufficient.
