Ollie Palmer’s goal was one of the fastest in League Two so far this season, as Stephen Clemence lost his first game at Wrexham with a score of 2-0.
Ben Tozer, the host’s second-half goal scorer at the Racecourse Ground, sealed the win in the second period.
Palmer scored his fifth goal this season, and the first one at home in September. He did it after a scramble within the Gills box.
On the hour, goalkeeper Jake Turner made a great save by preventing Palmer from scoring with a header at far post.
Tozer, the Wrexham defender who secured Wrexham’s third consecutive league victory and extended Wrexham’s unbeaten streak to 11 matches in all competitions with a quick flick of Jacob Mendy’s pinpoint cross.
Gillingham has had a poor run of recent results in the league. They have only won two of their nine games after winning six of their eight matches, including the first four of the season.
