The Ukrainian team will play Barcelona on Tuesday night at the Volksparkstadion in Germany – which is the home of the 2. Bundesliga side Hamburger SV in Hamburg.
Shakhtar played Porto at the Volksparkstadion earlier this season. They lost the game 3-1.

Shakhtar had the option of playing in a different stadium this year after last season’s European match at Legia Warsaw Stadion Wojska Polskiego. Hamburg is 2,240 km from Donetsk.
Shakhtar has not been playing in the Donbas Arena since 2014. This is due to conflict that broke out in Ukraine after 2022’s full-scale Russian invasion. Instead, they play their matches in Lviv or Kharkiv.
Shakhtar has been playing in the Olimpiyskiy Sports Complex since 2020. Due to the conflict, Shakhtar has played domestic football at a variety of different venues.
