Manchester City is exploring the possibility of a deal with Jamal Musiala, who plays for Bayern Munich.
This 20-year old attacking midfielder started just three Bundesliga matches this season, and his contract at the Allianz Arena ends in 2026.
According to football Insider, Musiala’s contract situation – along with the reported concern about playing time under Thomas Tuchel – has alerted Premier League Champions.
Last season the Germany international scored 12 goals across 33 Bundesliga games.
Musiala scored a late goal at FC Cologne in May to secure the 11th title consecutive for the Bavarians. He was then named as a member of the German Bundesliga’s team of the season.
Stuttgart-born De Bruyne could replace Kevin De Bruyne in the long term at City. He has played football for England, having come up through Chelsea’s ranks.
Rio Ferdinand expressed his confusion at Musiala’s departure from West London in 2019. He spent eight years with the Blues youth system.
“I don’t understand how Chelsea could have let him go,” said the former England defender earlier in this month. The kid has a lot of talent. He reminds of Kaka. “It’s difficult to say, but it seems that he is even more silky.”
