Luis Diaz’s father revealed his son’s dream to one day play in La Liga for the giant Barcelona.
After a long period of captivity, Diaz’s dad was recently handed to UN officials after being kidnapped by the ELN – a leftist rebel group active in Colombia from 1964 – along with his wife Cilenis.
Diaz’s dad was present for the first time after his release to witness his son playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Colombia and Brazil. He witnessed the wide forward scoring a brace and a win that made his nation proud. Diaz’s dad’s reaction after his son scored a brace became viral.
Luis Manuel, speaking to Colombian TV channel Win Sports about his son’s future football career, revealed that his “dream” is to one day play for Barcelona.
The truth is, I don’t know much about Barcelona right now. The elder Diaz confirmed that Luis was a Barcelona loyalist and it had been his dream to visit the club. “I would thank Porto for their warm welcome and Liverpool’s reception of him.
Luis, who is very well disciplined, is an easy player to like because he’s so humble, hardworking, and dedicated. It would not be a problem for Luis to join Barcelona, as it’s a world-class team.
Since joining Liverpool from Porto, in 2022 Diaz has scored nine goals for the Anfield Club and contributed two assists.
Barca would have to pay a lot of money if they were to sign the wide-player, who has just four years remaining on his contract with Liverpool.
