Grimsby came from behind to defeat Morecambe by 3-2, scoring three goals within 11 minutes of the second half. This was their first League Two match since Paul Hurst’s dismissal.
Danny Rose, Kieran green and Rekeil pyke scored quick goals after the halftime break to earn points for managerless Grimsby. This ended a run of four consecutive league losses that ultimately cost Hurst’s job.
Adam Mayor opened the scoring for Morecambe early in the game. JJ McKiernan scored a second late but that was not enough.
Mayor, who took possession of the ball and scored with his left hand in the corner after two minutes, was the first to score for the visitors.
Green and Gavan Hoohan missed good chances to equalize for Grimsby during the first period, but after the interval the home team stepped up their game.
Rose only needed 90 seconds to make Adam Smith save. Moments later, Rose equalised from a point-blank distance after the corner was swung in her favour.
Green scored two minutes after Grimsby took control.
Pyke scored 3-1 before the hour mark and, although McKiernan added a late consolation goal for Morecambe in the 86th minute, Grimsby was able to secure the win.
