Erik ten Hag vs Eddie Howe: Complete head-to-head record

Erik ten Hag

After facing each other for the first in 2022, Manchester United’s Erik ten Haag and Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe became fast friends.

Newcastle’s ascent in the Premier League has made meetings against Man Utd a great occasion.

We have seen these two coaches compete in a cup-final, as their reputation has risen so much over the past few seasons.

Ten Hag and Howe have a complete record of head-to-head matches.

Erik ten Hag vs Eddie Howe H2H record

1. Manchester United 0-0 Newcastle United (16/10/2022)

It was a far cry from being a classic. The goalless draw between Man Utd & Newcastle at Old Trafford was a stalemate. Another Cristiano Ronaldo hissy was the main talking point.

Marcus Rashford missed the opportunity to win the game late by sending his header past the bar. Joelinton, on the other hand, had hit the Magpies’ woodwork.

A bore draw would have been a more fair outcome.

2. Manchester United 2-0 Newcastle United 26/02/2023

Ten Hag won his first trophy in his second encounter with Howe as Manchester United manager, after the Red Devils defeated a Newcastle team that was underwhelming 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup Final.

Casemiro scored two goals in the first half of the match, while Rashford added another. This was the first silverware for Man Utd since 2017. Newcastle’s performance at Wembley fell short of expectations.

In the end, the Magpies were unable to score in the final third and had to depend on Loris Karius as a result of a serious goalkeeping crisis. The former Liverpool player was not at fault for the scoreline but it still brought him more heartbreak.

3. Newcastle United 2 Manchester United (2/04/2023).

In less than two months, Newcastle repaid Man Utd by beating the Old Trafford side with a 2-0 score in an impressive Premier League win at St James’ Park.

David de Gea’s inspired performance in the first-half denied the hosts. However, Joe Willock was able to finally break the deadlock by converting Allan Saint-Maximin’s header pass.

Callum Wilson added more glitz to the scoreline by scoring a beautiful header in normal time with just two minutes remaining. Newcastle moved temporarily ahead of Man Utd.
