James Collins’ two goals in the 3-0 Derby win ended Barnsley’s unbeaten run away in League One.
Collins scored a penalty in the first half and then struck again following a Craig Forsyth goal to send Barnsley down for their first away defeat of this season.
Derby began strongly, with Nathaniel Mendez Laing creating problems on the right. Joe Wildsmith was forced to divert an Adam Phillips’ free kick in the 21st-minute.
Derby took the lead in the 35th minutes when Jordan Williams, who had pushed Collins over to give a penalty that the striker converted confidently.
Derby extended their lead in the 48th with Forsyth scoring a low goal after a free kick was flicked.
In the 63rd, Derby scored a third goal after Forsyth fired a left-footed shot that Ben Killip had to save. Collins then bundled the rebound in.
Derby won a convincing victory with Tom Barkhuizen’s goal and Louie Sibley’s bar rattling.
