David Raya revealed that the Arsenal squad was furious in their dressing room when Anthony Gordon’s goal for Newcastle, which had been allowed to stand, proved decisive.
Andy Madley, the video assistant referee, spent four minutes deliberating on Gordon’s attempt. He checked for a Joelinton push against Gabriel Magalhaes as well as offsides or whether the ball was out of play.
Mikel Arteta , the Arsenal manager , described the decision in an “embarrassing manner” and expressed his “ashamedness” at the fact that it was upheld in England’s best league.
Raya was unable to stop Joe Willock from crossing the ball before it fell into Gordon’s hands. This performance by the Spanish goalkeeper is another one of his shaky ones.

He stated: “I could see that the ball had gone out of play and, after I went to the dressing-room, when I looked back on the goal it was a foul against Gabi. When he is about to kick the ball, he pushes him on his back with both hands.
It could also have been an out of bounds position. That’s more difficult to detect. The ball’s out of play, and that foul was a huge decision. It will cost us some valuable points. We are really disappointed.

After a season of unbeaten Premier League records, the Gunners’ record at St James’ Park ended. They managed only one goal from 14 attempts.
If both Liverpool and Aston Villa beat Arsenal on Sunday, they will fall to 5th place.
