Stale Solbakken, the Norwegian manager of Arsenal’s football team, is hoping that Martin Odegaard can return to action after international breaks when Arsenal plays Brentford.
Odegaard scored after being rest due to muscle fatigue in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup loss to West Ham United on November 1. He then missed the next three matches.
Arsenal has not revealed the nature of Odegaard’s health problems, but according to reports the club captain is currently battling a concussion and hip injury.
Solbakken revealed that he spoke to Odegaard, the Norwegian international player who will be absent for the Norway fixtures. He feels the 24-year old is progressing in his bid to return to action after the break when Arsenal is due to face Brentford.
Solbakken said at a press briefing that he had just finished a 45 minute conversation with Martin. He is improving and stepping up.
It has been three weeks since any training was done, and it’s important to go step-by-step. Arsenal and he both hope that he will be available for Brentford’s match.”
Solbakken, who revealed this earlier in the week, said that Norway expected to miss their captain during these two matches, despite Arsenal’s desire to have him fully fit.
He revealed, “We’ve known that Martin won’t come for a long time.” It must be coordinated by Arsenal and as long as Arsenal tried to make him fit and ready we knew it wouldn’t work.
