Stockport Hatters win 12th consecutive game to equal League Two records

Stockport won its 12th straight League Two match by beating Colchester at Edgeley Park 2-0.

Kyle Wootton gave County the lead at the halftime whistle and Callum Camps, a substitute after the interval, added another goal as Stockport equalled the record of consecutive fourth-tier wins set by Luton back in 2002.

Visitors County, hoping to maintain their recent improved form, which saw them win 10 points in their last four matches, set out to frustrate the table toppers from the start.

Samson Tovide, just before halftime, was the player who hit the woodwork with the first chance.

Stockport’s patient approach paid off when Wootton threw the ball over the goal line in the 44th-minute after a perfect timing of the pass.

Camps’s superb corner strike nestled in the goal with just his first touch after the halftime break.

Stockport’s Ben Hinchcliffe saved Colchester from scoring with an errant ball that crossed the face of goal. County won the game easily and now sit six points ahead at the top
