Northampton won 2-0 over Burton at Sixfields to end their winless streak of six games.
The Cobblers won the game with three goals by Marc Leonard and Sam Hoskins.
Joe Powell had a free kick that he curled over the crossbar and angle between the post as Burton started the match brightly. The home team then grew in confidence and played well.
In the first period, goalmouth play was scarce as neither side showed much creativity or quality in the last third. Neither goalkeeper had to make any notable saves.
Northampton broke their deadline after nine minutes of the second half. Leonard smashed the corner from a long distance to the top.
Max Crocombe, Burton’s goalkeeper, stopped Mitch Pinnock from scoring a header in a quick counterattack. He was alert on both occasions when Leonard tried to score.
The Cobblers eventually won all three points after Hoskins displayed excellent composure to score in the bottom right corner of the penalty area 12 minutes before the end.
