Manchester United is worried about the health of Andre Onana, who was injured in Cameroon’s 3-0 victory over Mauritius.
- Onana was forced to leave the game with Mauritius 3-0 after ten minutes.
- The groin of the Man Utd goalkeeper was injured.
- Altay Bayindir has yet to debut with the club
Onana appeared to hold his groin and collapsed on the grass as he left to be replaced with Fabrice Ondoa, a Nimes goalkeeper.
Rigobert song, the Cameroon manager who convinced Onana to return from international retirement after they disagreed about the tactics of the team in September, has not provided an update regarding Onana.
United officials are keen to examine Onana who will now miss the match against Guinea on Monday.
On November 26, the Red Devils will face Everton before facing Galatasaray and Newcastle United. Later in December, they’ll also play Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
If Onana needs to be on the bench, Altay bayindir will replace him in Erik Ten Hag’s first team. He is yet to debut after signing from Fenerbahce this summer.
Bayindir is likely to be a part of the squad in 2024, but Onana will most likely go to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon from January 13-February 11.
It was reported that Onana would not want to compete for his country in the World Cup and focus instead on helping United return to its best form. However, it remains to be determined whether or not he takes this stance at the right time.
Onana could be forced to miss many games if Cameroon has a strong run.
Onana will miss the FA Cup games in third and fourth rounds against United, as well as Premier League matches away to Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
