LiveScore Daily – Palmer says Chelsea’s move has paid off

LiveScore Daily will keep you up to date with all of the major football news throughout the day. This page will be updated with the most recent stories.

Take a palm and go

Cole Palmer says his Chelsea move has paid off, after being called up to the senior England squad for the first time.

Palmer has appeared in just 10 Premier League matches for the Blues this year, four fewer than the number he played last season with Manchester City.

It was an important move. It was my first time out of Manchester. I hadn’t been on loan before, or even moved down by myself.

You know what a great manager Pep Guardiola is, and I will always be thankful to him for giving me this opportunity to launch my career.

Who knows what might have happened had I stayed?

Maybe I’d have played more or maybe not. “I think my decision to join Chelsea has paid off so far.”

It’s not easy to make a decision

Emma Hayes says it wasn’t an easy decision for her to leave Chelsea, but she couldn’t turn down the chance to be the manager of the United States Women’s Team.

It will be difficult for the 47-year old to say goodbye to the Women’s Super League team at the end of this season.

She stated: “It was a heart-wrenching experience for me because I am so passionate about the players I have worked with and everyone I know.

The challenge of competing in World Cups and Olympics as well as the dream to coach a team, which I have always wanted, was too much for me to turn down.

Hayes has her eyes on the future, but will maintain her standards during her time remaining with Blues.

She said: “I have been managing Chelsea for the past 12 years, and I am responsible for a club with high expectations.

The DNA of my family is to expect to win, but to continue winning we must be aware.

Cech-mate

Petr Cech makes the move to Elite League

Petr Cech, the football icon who is a legend in ice hockey circles, has stunned the world by moving on loan to Belfast Giants.

Last season, the Giants won the Elite League Grand Slam – the league title, the play-offs, and the Challenge Cup – making them the most successful team in Canada.

Cech (41), who has been playing since 2019, joined from Oxford City Stars, a second-tier club. He previously played at Chelmsford Chieftains and Guildford Phoenix.

Belfast’s Adam Keefe stated: “Petr has a long list of awards and knows how to compete at the top level.

We’re grateful for the Oxford City Stars as well as Petr. “His support will be invaluable during this loan period.”

Cech will help Belfast Giants improve their performance after they have suffered two consecutive defeats in Elite League.

Union broken

Union Berlin, a Bundesliga team from Berlin, has fired its head coach Urs Fisher after an unimpressive start to their campaign.

After finishing fourth in the last season, they are now at the bottom of their table with only six points after 11 games.

In a statement, club president Dirk Zingler stated: “I have recently made clear that Urs was an outstanding coach. I am still absolutely certain of this.”

This is not just a sad day for myself, but for my entire Union family.

When I look back at the achievements we’ve had and the time spent, I am proud and grateful.

As painful as the separation may be, Urs will leave as a good friend whom we’ll always welcome with open arms.

German engineering

Adidas has unveiled its official ball for Euro 2024 which will take place next summer in Germany.

The FUSSBALLLIEBE tournament, which means love of football in German, is the first to use connected ball technology.

This design is meant to show the speed of the ball, the excitement of the match and its energy through the use of black shapes with coloured edges and curves.

The colours red, blue, orange and green are used to represent the vibrant energy that each nation brings to the Euros, and to show the simple nature of the game that draws so many football fans around the globe.

A subtle touch is the small image of the stadiums with their respective cities underneath.

All 51 games of the tournament will begin on June 14, and all matches using the ball.
