- Bellingham’s single goal against Napoli has been compared with Maradona’s famous strike against England
- Bellingham scored its eighth goal of the year.
- England’s international footballer is currently arguably the most talented player in the entire world
Jude Bellingham dismissed comparisons with Diego Maradona’s World Cup-winning goal.
Since his summer move to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund for a record-breaking PS88m, the 20-year old has scored eight goals with three assists.
In the Champions League, his most impressive goal as a Madrider was probably Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over Napoli. Bellingham picked up the ball just inside Napoli’s half and raced into the penalty box before side-footing it into the goal.
It is not surprising that the comparisons between this goal and , the famous goal Maradona made against England, have been made.
After the match, Bellingham spoke to Movistar and was asked if he thought his goal was on par with the legendary Argentine no. 10’s against England. The level-headed player replied: “That is a little too much!”

It was an impressive goal. According to YouTube videos and documentary footage, Maradona was better than me, or at least a great deal more. It’s just a way to be Jude.
It could have been one of my greatest goals. We were playing against a top team at a fantastic stadium. It’s a three-pointer and I want to keep up the pace.
This weekend, Madrid will be back on the pitch in their domestic league when they host Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu. Bellingham will look to increase his impressive six La Liga goals, in what should be an easy win for early-season table-toppers.
