- After the November International Break, Chelsea has some very difficult games to play.
- The win over Tottenham and the draw with Man City helped to develop a bond between fans
- Young players still need to be more consistent in their attack
The last two matches leading up to the international break in November were positive for Chelsea, and their new manager Mauricio pochettino.
The young team won 4-1 at Tottenham despite their lack of discipline against nine players. the thrilling 4-4 tie at Stamford Bridge with Manchester City was also celebrated as a win.
The Blues’ performances were not perfect in both matches, and they could have done better on different aspects. However, the Blues managed to get four points out of two extremely difficult games.
Here are 3 things Chelsea should do to improve during the break.
How to manage a large game
Chelsea will be happy that this break is coming at the right time, as they could have faced a horrendous schedule of fixtures in a short period without it.
After playing Tottenham and Man City in the last two weeks, Pochettino’s squad will travel to Newcastle before facing Brighton at home and then Manchester United on an away day.
These games are crucial if they want to climb the ladder.
Chelsea scored four points in the match against Tottenham, and Man City was chaotic. The matches did not provide any blueprints for success. Next, we need to control matches such as these.
Chelsea may not be as exciting for us but, a 2-0 victory with complete control over Newcastle or Man Utd says a lot.
Nicolas Jackson’s consistency is impressive
Nicolas Jackson must start showing consistency between now and Christmas for Chelsea to repay their faith in the Senegalese forward.
While he has played in all of the Premier League matches except two, despite scoring six times it was against Tottenham at the end of 15 minutes with nine players. He had already missed many chances. It was still his job to score, but this wasn’t a classic hat-trick.
Jackson scored one of four goals in the match against Man City, but Pochettino needs regular contributions to the goalscoring column. He has given the striker plenty of chances as a starter. Chelsea’s team could start clicking if Jackson can become more consistent in front of the goal.
Maintain a good relationship with your fans
The last two matches have been a great success for this Chelsea team, largely because of the chaos that has characterized them.
The fans have been angry with managers for spending money in the transfer markets and not being able to play European football. But crazy games are also a great way to make them fall in love. And the scene at the final draw between Man City and Blues suggested that the Blues had a lot of supporters.
The good videos will continue to exist only if the players keep putting up good performances and gaining points. Pochettino needs to make progress on the hints he has seen.
