The fourth matchday of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League has arrived, and some of the biggest names in the competition are attempting to secure their place in the final 16.

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City all had 100% winning records in their first three matches, whereas Inter, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain were well-positioned to make it through the knockout round.

The next round of games is crucial for Celtic, AC Milan, and Manchester United. They all want to win in order to remain competitive heading into the final two group matches.

Here is how 90min predicts the Champions League matches this week.

After the euphoria of Newcastle‘s 4-1 thrashing of Paris Saint-Germain, a Borussia Dortmund 1-0 defeat at home on matchday last washed away. Both teams will meet on Tuesday, in the first of two early kickoffs. The Magpies hope their injury list won’t affect their recent form.

Shakhtar Donetsk came close to stopping Barcelona last time they played. Despite the 2-1 win for Barcelona, Xavi and his team will be hoping to get a better result this time around.

Celtic needs to win their first match quickly in order to qualify for European football as early as next year. But they face a daunting task away at Atletico Madrid.

PSG‘s humiliation at St James’ Park was sandwiched between wins against AC Milan and Dortmund. Rossoneri has had the most disappointing start among the big clubs in Group F. Their winless streak may continue if Kylian MBappe continues to be on form.

Young Boys had to be shaking in their boots as they watched Manchester City thrash Bournemouth over the weekend. The Swiss team played well in their first encounter with the English side, but were only defeated by Erling Haaland’s double at the second half. The fitness of the Norwegian is in serious doubt.

Manchester United knows that a victory at Kobenhavn will give them a big boost in their hopes of making it to the knockout stages. Red Devils managed to sneak a 1-0 victory over Fulham in the last minute at the weekend. Another tight match could be coming up, but the Red Devils will still have a slight advantage.

In the other Group A match, Galatasaray will host the group’s leaders Bayern Munich. The team is a mix of talent and eccentricity with Mauro Isticardi, Wilfried Zha and Dries Mestens. Bayern Munich will feel boosted by the resounding win they had in Der Klassiker.

Arsenal‘s victory over Sevilla has helped Mikel arteta take control of Group B. However, the Spaniard is keen to avoid more VAR decisions that are “embarrassing”.

Real Madrid failed to score against Rayo Vallecano in Sunday’s 0-0 draw. Carlo Ancelotti worries about the health of Jude Bellingham. His absence from Braga will be Los Blancos’ biggest threat to score in the last third of the field this season.
