Both Joshua and Wilder feature in sizzling Saudi card

On December 23, both Anthony Joshua and Deontay Willer will be fighting in an exciting evening of heavyweight Boxing in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua will look to win his third fight of 2019 against the 32-year old Swede Otto Wallin who lost his sole professional bout in 2019 to Tyson Fury.

AJ: “I told you at the beginning of this year, that I was going to start my activity journey. In the last 12 months I have fought three times, won two and lost one.

I am thankful to His Excellency Turki alalshikh for giving me the chance to fulfill my plan. “I am focused solely on the 23rd of December and finishing this year well.

Even on a bad morning, I will smoke [Wallin].

I believe that I will become three-times heavyweight world champion. “I’m going to be a three-time heavyweight champion of the world. I am determined to win, and to return to my peak – if they call it that.”

Wilder will be ending more than one year of inactivity by taking on New Zealander Joseph Parker, who is playing a full card of well-known names.

Fury and Usyk’s highly-anticipated fight was originally scheduled for pre-Christmas, but is expected to happen in February.

According to recent reports, if Joshua Wilder are both able to complete their bouts without incident they may face off on the undercard. The WBC champ would trade leather with the unified title holder Usyk.

Daniel Dubois will also be on the Riyadh bill, and will try to rebound from his defeat by Usyk in summer when he takes on American Jarrell Miller.

Miller (35), was scheduled to fight for the world title with Joshua in 2019, but he withdrew after he tested positive for prohibited substances.

Dmitry Bivol, the Russian heavyweight who stunned Saul Alvarez with a stunning knockout in May 2022, defends his WBA light-heavyweight world belt against Manchester’s Lyndon Arthur.

Filip Hrgovic and Arslanbek Mahmudov are also expected to take part in the fight.

The latest boxing major event in the Gulf State follows Fury’s cross-over fight with MMA legend Francis Ngannou which was much closer than expected.
