- Onana discusses the pressures that come with playing for Man Utd
- Goalkeeper joins club during summer
- In the win against Fulham at the weekend, he kept a perfect score sheet
Andre Onana insists he is prepared for all the attention he has received since joining Manchester United, “one of biggest clubs” in the world.
After signing from Inter in the summer for an incredible PS47.2m , the goalkeeper was named the new United number one. However, he struggled to find his form for the first couple of weeks.
Onana’s performances against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, in the UEFA Champions League were heavily criticized. The goalkeeper made a number of calamitous mistakes in both matches. Former Inter goalkeeper Onana has recovered from his recent shaky starts, however. He made a spectacular last-minute penalty save to secure a win against FC Kobenhavn.
He was in excellent form again for the Red Devils over the weekend. The player earned plaudits after keeping a spotless sheet during United’s narrow victory against Fulham.

Onana spoke to NBC Sports after the match about the pressures that come with playing for the Red Devils.
You have to prepare yourself to play at Manchester United. “It’s the price you pay for playing at such a large club,” explained he.
Everyone is unhappy if you lose. This is perfectly normal. Manchester United is what we are. It is our duty to win. It is good for me. You are used to wining. Even if the situation is not good, we have to try to win. Manchester United, as one of the largest clubs in the World, must always try to win.
You can sometimes lose, but you must fight every time. We all make mistakes. It’s part of the human experience. We will never stop fighting in this club. Our goal is to give our all. The character we showed was impressive. “I’m glad for their willingness to work together.”
Onana hopes to keep his sixth unblemished record of the year in all competitions, when United takes on Kobenhavn in the Champions League again midweek.
